I was once proud of saying that im an engineer(B-tech),especially when i specify that my core, electronics & instrumentation.Had a kinda feeling that engineers passing out were employed in their respective fields . One reading this might be laughing out if he is an Indian, coz he knows well what all problems that an engineer faces with in one or two years after he passout and some even more to get a job. Nowadays it has also got a name called “JOB HUNT”.Nice way of expression is the explanation for employed but for unemployed..bitter one to digest.Fresher dont even know whats this job hunt exactly means. If u are unemployed u might think “I know what it means”.But ask to urself whats first step?? the very next process to start with??..Blank minded right??.Its obvious coz of several reasons. One of it is RECESSION ,most of 'em restrict this perticular discussion in a single word.Thats true to some extent that last years recession made job hunt a bitter experience for youngsters.
Think little more widely. Will we b getting job in our field(IT section excuse)even if there is no recession??.All of our students have been placed in IT companies not in any core branches and now they all seek for safer jobs.Look at China, our nearby giant economy. Most of undergraduate students there work in their core branches like electronics students wont go for BPO jobs.Thank god that they dont hav many BPOs there..So they all r forced to take up jobs in respective fields .Initially salary were too low there but gradually increasing as export increases. So even if India step into this field we also will b having low wages. For example in electronics we will have to compete with chinese industries in their low cost products. But still there r chances to make entry if we introduce high quality products as african markets' purchasing power is increasing they look forward for good quality products in future.
What India hav to do is to promote more n more industries as engineers r available from here itself in large numbers in any discipline. After all engineers are considered to b “building block of economy”.Even if govt is unaware of these things we can promote it by awarness programs especially in the field of “entrepreneurship”.Most of heavy industries were small or medium scale industries once.Opening up of industries will increase exports infact n there by incresing exports.More over India having IT n ITES(IT enabled services) better than any other country to marketise huge production supported by youngsters with good communication skill. So what i conclude here is that India having right environment to boost up industries, only the thing that we lack here is entrepreneurs . Let it be the target in coming decades and soon we realize it.Wish u ppl wont neglect this n go for either big fat salary from “Dubai” or “...safe” govt employment.
